Jacksonville internet cafe robbed at gunpoint

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fish Games and Arcade Spot on Roosevelt Boulevard is at the center of a robbery investigation.

We have learned little about the suspect at this time, only that he was wearing all black.

Some people believe that, even with security cameras, more measures need to be taken to protect customers and workers.

“Do you think there should be more security at internet cafes? It sounds like there should be if we’re going to leave them open, but as far as I’m concerned, I would like to see them closed down,” said neighbor Carole Morris.

“I think they all should be gone,” agreed Cornell Benjamin.

The city has deemed businesses like this a nuisance and aims to shut them all down by early next year. It is unclear if this particular business had permission to stay open.

Since last month, the city has shut down more than a dozen internet cafes without operating permits. Fish Games and Arcade Spot was not on the list.

A city spokesperson mentioned that this might be because it has a certificate of use, allowing it to stay open for an additional six months.

An employee at a nearby business expressed daily concerns about robberies, noting that this internet café has been robbed before. Neighbors echoed these worries.

“I never really hear anything good come from them,” Morris said.

“What the City Council needs to do is work to get casinos here,” Benjamin added.

Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-7600.
